Bio
Dr. Bright Odei began practicing in 2004 with a focus on family medicine, and clinical interest in preventative health, patient education, diabetes education and management, heart failure management, community health and global medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is also certified in Basic Life Support. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, Florida Medical Association and the Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation of North America.
Dr. Odei received a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, and attended medical school at the School of Medical Sciences in Kumasi, Ghana. He completed his residency at Southern Illinois University Center for Family Medicine in Carbondale, IL, with a focus on family medicine.
In addition to English, Dr. Odei speaks fluent Akan, Twi and Fante.
He is a member of the Governing Council of the IMG graduate Section of the Texas Medical Association, and recipient of the 2017 Dr. Harmon Award for community Medicine in Sangamon County, IL. He has taken part in medical mission trips to Ghana to provide medical interaction.
On a personal note, Dr. Odei plays soccer and table tennis and likes to bowl. He enjoys international traveling and tourism, world history, technical analysis of soccer games, reading novels, and listening to music, especially jazz, soul and contemporary highlife.
