Bio
Nurse Practitioner Josh Mitchem says his professional philosophy is built on “compassion, trust, and continual growth. I practice patient-centered care and aim to improve each patient’s experience through active listening, education and consideration of both physical and emotional well-being.”
Josh’s focus is family medicine, and he began practicing in 2022. His areas of clinical interest are urgent care, family practice, primary care and emergency room.
He is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and is also certified in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support. He’s also a member of the American Nursing Association.
He says, “My passion for patient education, continued learning, and a holistic approach to medicine allow me the privilege to deliver compassionate, high-quality care.” Josh began working in the emergency department as a nurse while continuing his education to become certified as a family nurse practitioner by receiving his master’s degree in nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Piedmont College and a Bachelor of Nursing at University of Alabama at Birmingham, completing his residency at Alabama Regional Medical Services, also in Birmingham.
When away from work, Josh enjoys spending time outside with his family, hiking, biking, and camping. He also enjoys cooking and traveling.
