Kristy Heatly, DO (Heat-lee), believes that with Village Medical the patient truly comes first, and, as a physician, she has the support that she needs to ensure her patients will receive the high quality, accessible and comprehensive care. In practice for more than 20 years, her areas of clinical interest include preventive medicine, women’s health, pediatric and adolescent medicine, geriatrics and sports medicine. She is a member of the medical advisory board for utilization management at Village Medical.
Dr. Heatly earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Baylor University. She then attended medical school at the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center in Ft. Worth, TX. Dr. Heatly completed her residency at the Scott and White Memorial Hospital Family Practice Residency Program in Temple, TX.
Prior to joining Village Medical, Dr. Heatly enjoyed a long career in comprehensive primary care, including inpatient care and skilled nursing care. In 2018, she served as market medical director for a local multicenter urgent care organization. She has mentored medical students in clinical settings as an associate professor of community clinical medicine at Texas A&M Medical School Round Rock Campus from 2007 to 2011 and as an assistant professor of family practice at UTMB Galveston for Clinical Medicine between 2009 and 2011. She has continued to enjoy mentoring and collaborating with advanced practice providers in developing comprehensive clinical teams and was voted “Favorite Clinical Preceptor in Family Medicine” by students at Texas A&M Medical School in 2009.
Dr. Heatly holds a special interest in medical missions and has traveled multiple times to Mexico and Central America to provide medical care to underserved populations. She is a founding member of the WELL Committee for Treating Eating Disorders at Southwestern University (Georgetown, TX) which involves a multidisciplinary team of community physicians, psychiatrists, athletic coaches, trainers, physical therapists and school counselors dedicated to identifying and managing and eating disorders in the college-age students.
When not with patients or students, Dr. Heatly enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and rescue pups, as well as traveling, playing tennis, practicing yoga, kayaking, swimming/snorkeling and sketching.
