Bio
Nurse Practitioner Lara Vanden Hoek (pronounced “Hook”) has practiced in primary care and urgent care. She is board-certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, of which she is also a member.
Lara completed her undergraduate degree in nursing at the University of Sioux Falls Sioux Falls, SD, and received a doctorate and graduated with honors from the University of Wyoming in Laramie. She has been an associate professor of nursing and adjunct faculty at the University of Sioux Falls.
On a personal note, she enjoys being creative in cooking with diversity of healthy foods to find a well-balanced diet, and being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, running, swimming, biking, gardening, and at times training for a triathlon. In the winter she enjoys reading, exploring different music and skiing. She says that she and her husband “love to continue to travel and explore other cultures and learn from them. I practiced as a nurse for five years in the ER and for a year overseas in Northern Africa. Anything having to do with different cultures and learning new things is exciting!”
