Dr. Syed Shahid (pronounced “Sa-yud SHAA-hid”) has been in practice since 1990, with a focus on Diabetes, and Endocrinology. His clinical interests include complications of diabetes mellitus, complex thyroid disorders, metabolic bone disease, osteoporosis, gonadal diseases, testosterone treatment for men, Cushing’s syndrome disorders.
Dr. Shahid completed his undergraduate work at D.J. Science College in Pakistan, majors in biology, chemistry, and physics. He attended medical school at Dow Medical College in Pakistan, where he received Bachelor’s degrees in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Mt. Vernon Hospital in New York, where he received a Best Resident award for 1996, and proceeded for fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick NJ. He is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist (AACE) and the American Diabetes Association.
He can fluently speak Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi.
Away from work, Syed enjoys traveling, cricket, golf, movies and reading nonfiction. He is married, and likes to visit family and friends who are spread out across the country.
