Bio
Thayer Phelan (pronounced “Tha yer / Fay lin”), MD, has been caring for the health and wellbeing of patients since 2007. Her areas of clinical interest include cardiology, wound care, sports medicine and medical education.
Dr. Phelan earned a bachelor’s in biological sciences from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. She earned a doctor of medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dublin. Dr. Phelan chose to study in Ireland to learn more of her heritage and expand her world view through learning medicine in an international setting. She is a dual citizen of both the USA and Ireland. She completed a residency in emergency medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA. Dr. Phelan is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and has certifications for advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS) and advanced trauma life support (ATLS®).
On a personal note, Dr. Phelan and her wife have two sons and a pet dog. Dr. Phelan enjoys spending time with family and particularly mountain biking and skiing with her two sons. She also enjoys cooking, baking and travel.
