Valerie Viegas, MD

Dr. Viegas is the Senior Medical Director for VillageMD’s Central Indiana region. She is a board-certified family medicine physician. She has been a practicing physician and on staff at Community Health Network in the Indianapolis area since 2001. Dr. Viegas has been involved in several patient-centered care committees in the past few years. Improving population health and improving the patient experience is a passion for Dr. Viegas.

Dr. Viegas completed her undergraduate education at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. She completed a master’s degree in biology from Purdue University. Dr. Viegas earned Doctor of Medicine at the American University of the Caribbean. She earned a MBA from the Indiana University Kelley School Business of Medicine Program in 2020 to develop skillsets to lead healthcare change.

Dr. Viegas enjoys traveling, HIT exercise, reading and is a continual learner. She has completed a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion certificate program from Cornell University. Dr. Viegas also has been involved in physician and health equity leadership cohorts. She volunteers both at local non-profits as well as on medical mission trips. She is a fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the Indiana State Medical Association, the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
