Stay Active with Village Medical
The Village Medical Stay Active program provides free physical therapy classes you can complete at home. Designed as a strength and conditioning program for the entire body, Stay Active exercises are primarily seated, and suitable for all ages. Each class focuses on a different area of the body, to promote safe independent mobility.
Upper-Body Program
The upper-body program is designed to improve strength and flexibility of the upper body, to help with posture, reaching, lifting and carrying. This program focuses on the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists and hands.
Lower-Body Program
The lower-body program is designed to help with posture, standing, walking and transfers. This program is focused on improving strength and flexibility of the back, hips, knees and ankles.
Full-Body Program
The full-body program combines strengthening the upper and lower body with overall coordination exercises, to promote greater general mobility. Please note that some of the exercises in the full-body program involve both sitting and standing.
If at any time you experience chest pain, dizziness or severe shortness of breath that’s not normal when you exercise, stop immediately and seek medical attention if necessary.
Participants should NOT rely on this program to improve standing balance and/or ambulatory quality; these require professional supervision and proper equipment for adequate safety.
